Financing CISV London Activities

Chapter Activities

CISV London is a volunteer-driven, non-profit, charitable organization.  We receive no government funding.  As such, all of our activities are funded through membership fees and fundraising.

In general, CISV London hosts a Village, Step-Up or Seminar Camp every 2 or 3 years.  In order to keep the costs of attending CISV events to a minimum, Host chapters are responsible for covering the entire cost of the activity - including accommodations and meals, for all delegates and camp staff.  These activities cost tens of thousands of dollars, most of which comes from Chapter fund-raising activities.

Fund-raising events that have taken place in the past include silent auctions, bottle-drives, phone book delivery and proceeds from Nevada tickets.

Delegate Travel

Delegates are responsible for their own travel costs to their villages or camps.  As leaders are not paid for their time, the Chapter requires that delegations also cover the costs for the leader's travel.  As most delegations have four youth, the travel costs for delegates is equal to the the youth's cost plus 25% of the cost of the leader's travel.  In general, this amounts to approximately $3000 - $3500 per delegate, for a three to four week experience.  This is comparable to the cost of sending a child to a summer camp.
